A fog-of-war maze game for iPhone

FOGLET

There must be a way…

A maze you can barely see. Your lantern reaches about four steps into the fog, your trail of stars forgets you after eight seconds, and the exit is somewhere. Every game builds a brand-new maze, so nobody can tell you the way out — including us.

iPhone · iOS 17 or later · Free download: 2 free mazes, then $2.99 once

Try a maze right here

A small one: 10×10, in your browser, with the game's own art. The app deals 40×40 up to 60×60 — consider this the shallow end of the fog.

Deep Dungeon Time00:00 Steps0

Arrow keys or WASD, swipe the maze, or hold the d-pad. The exit is somewhere to the bottom right.

Four worlds in the demo. Sixteen in the app.

Sixteen worlds

One is dealt at random every game — you find out where you are by walking into it. These are real screenshots, which is why they are mostly fog.

What you're up against

No enemies. No treasure. No timer chasing you. Just you, a wall you didn't see, and the growing suspicion that you have been here before.

Fog of war

You see about four steps in any direction. Everything past that is a rumour you have decided to believe.

A trail that forgets

Stars mark where you've walked, then wink out after eight seconds. Your memory is the map. Sorry.

A new maze every game

Never the same twice, 40×40 up to 60×60. There is no level one to get good at.

An exit worth finding

A portal, a chest, a barred door — whatever this world left in the far corner, glowing faintly and entirely unbothered by how long you are taking.

Proper d-pad

A chunky cross you can hold down to keep walking. Swipe or tap if you must, but it is right there.

It notices when you're stuck

Wander the same ground long enough and a line of encouragement turns up. It is not a hint. It does not know where the exit is either.

Records worth chasing

Fewest steps, fastest escape, and a personal best in all sixteen worlds. Your only rival is whoever you were yesterday.

See for yourself

Well — see what you can. The dark part is the game.

Keep the fog forever

The first two mazes are free. If they get you, one payment keeps the rest — for good. No subscription: charging you every month to stay lost felt rude.

once, and that's the end of it

Quiet by design

No ads. Not one, not ever.
No tracking. No analytics, no IDFA, no accounts, no idea who you are.
No notifications. The app never asks for a single permission.
No internet needed. Works on a plane — fitting, really. Your stats never leave the phone.

All of that is the app. This website is the one place we count visits, with Google Analytics, and only if you accept cookies. Website privacy & cookies

Reasonable questions

Is there a map? No.
Can I get a hint? The game will occasionally say something encouraging. That is not a hint. It has not read the maze either.
What if I quit halfway? The maze is gone. It was generated for you, it owed you nothing, and there are infinite more where it came from.
Is every maze solvable? Always. That is the single nicest thing anyone will ever say about them.
Does it work offline? Entirely. There is nothing to connect to.
How much is it? Free to download with two free mazes. Then $2.99 once unlocks everything, forever. No subscription, no ads.
What do I need? An iPhone on iOS 17 or later.
Why “Foglet”? The name we wanted was taken. A foglet is a small thing lost in fog. On reflection, better.
